NEW REBUS GROUP - FRENCH CONVERSATION.

Dawn Ferguson is keen to start a French conversation interest group.  It will be very casual and you do not need to be a fluent French speaker to join.  Topics will be wide-ranging and intended to be fun. If you are learning French on Duolingo or would like to exercise your brain cells by dusting off school French, you are most welcome.  For more information or to sign up, please contact Dawn at dawncferguson@gmail.com.  Those who have already contacted her do not need to again. It is hoped that the first meeting will take place in late June.

Michael Harrison was delighted to make a presentation to Sybil and Vince Keating who have been attending the club for 25 years. Not many members achieve this feat.  Vince was President in 2003 and 2004, and Sybil was on the Committee from 2008 to 2010. Sybil and Vince are both in their nineties.  Vince and Sybil have recently retired from REBUS.

“Acclaimed American playwright, Tennessee Williams penned emotional powerhouse hits like "A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE," "BABY DOLL," "CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF" and "SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER" but it was his tender and  autobiographical ”memory" play, "THE GLASS MENAGERIE," that catapulted him from obscurity to international fame.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE  follows a family trapped by dreams and delusions in 1930s St Louis. Times are tough. Amidst the turmoil of a changing world, solo mother, Amanda Wingfield, a faded Southern belle, is hellbent on finding a better future for her emotionally fragile daughter, Laura, while her restless son, Tom, is caught between his duty to his family and his desire for freedom.

Deftly blending humour and pathos and suffused with the eloquent poetic language that became Tennessee Williams’ trademark, "THE GLASS MENAGERIE" is an achingly beautiful study of four people struggling to conform to the expectation of others.” – Circa web site.
